🧠 Mindset Work vs. Physical Therapy

Understanding the Difference
At Mindset Movement and Wellness, we integrate both physical and emotional healing in our sessions. To ensure transparency and empower you as a client, it’s important to understand the distinction between our licensed services and our holistic offerings.

What Is Mindset Work?

Mindset work supports emotional awareness, self-connection, and personal growth. It may include:
  • Breathwork and grounding exercises
  • Mind-body awareness practices
  • Guided reflection and discussion
  • Present-moment practices to support healing
This work is non-clinical and not regulated by a state licensing board. It is not intended to diagnose or treat any medical or psychological condition. Instead, it serves as a supportive and intuitive complement to your physical healing.

What Is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy (PT) is a licensed healthcare service focused on restoring your movement, strength, and function. A licensed physical therapist provides:
  • Assessment and treatment of physical impairments
  • Therapeutic exercises tailored to your needs
  • Manual therapy and guided movement
  • Evidence-based education for pain relief and mobility
All physical therapy services comply with professional licensing standards and require that your provider is licensed in the state where you reside.

Insurance & Payment Information

We are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many insurance companies may reimburse for physical therapy sessions under your out-of-network benefits.
  • A superbill can be provided upon request, which you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
  • Payment is due at the time of service.
Please check with your insurance provider to understand your specific benefits. We’re happy to assist with documentation for your self-submission.

Why It Matters

During your session, you may experience both physical therapy and mindset-based guidance. Only the physical therapy portion is considered a licensed medical service. Mindset work is offered as an optional, holistic layer to support your journey—not as a replacement for medical or mental health treatment.
If you have questions about your session or the nature of any service provided, we’re happy to clarify. Your safety, clarity, and comfort are our priorities.

🏥 What Is the Physical Therapy Compact?

The Physical Therapy Compact (PT Compact) is an agreement among participating U.S. states that allows licensed physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) to practice across state lines more easily. This means that if your therapist is licensed in one Compact member state, they can obtain authorization—called a compact privilege—to provide care in another Compact member state without undergoing the full licensing process again.

📋 What Does This Mean for You as a Patient?

If you're receiving physical therapy services from a provider in a different state, it's essential to ensure that:
  • Both your state and the therapist's state are members of the PT Compact.

  • Your therapist has obtained a compact privilege to practice in your state.

This ensures that your therapist is legally authorized to provide care, adhering to the standards and regulations of your state's licensing board.

As of May 2025, the following states are actively issuing and accepting compact privileges:

✅ Why This Matters

Ensuring that your physical therapist has the appropriate compact privileges:
  • Protects your safety by confirming the therapist meets your state's professional standards.

  • Ensures legal compliance, safeguarding both you and your therapist.

  • Facilitates access to care, especially if you're seeking services from out-of-state providers.

If you have any questions about your therapist's licensure status or the PT Compact, please don't hesitate to ask. Your well-being is our top priority.
